Grandpa turns 90!

WHERE: Salt Lake City, Utah
WHEN: January 2007
WITH: Family
WHY: Grandpa turned 90 years old so we threw him a big bash!

MEMORIES:
-When my mom asked him if we could throw him a party his response was, "Are you sure?  I have a lot of friends..."
-We had dinner at The Roof Restaurant as a family.
-We had the party at the lobby of his condo building; he was right - a lot of his friends came!
-Grandpa made us sing "Happy birthday" to him twice before he blew out his candles :)

A bittersweet goodbye.

WHERE: Salt Lake City, Utah
WHEN: October 2012
WITH: Family
WHY: Grandpa's funeral.

MEMORIES:
-We all dined at Grandpa's favorite restaurant, The Lion House. (He went there daily; they knew him by name.)
-We were able to all gather and pick out some favorite things of Grandpa's/Grandma's to take.
-Reminiscing with family.
-Spending time with family.  There were a lot of tears, but there was also a lot of laughter, and Grandpa would have loved that.

Grandpa lived right across the street from temple square; lots and lots of memories.

Grandkids!

Nice photo bomb, Tami.

Probably my most favorite picture ever - love my siblings!

Grandpa served in WWII and so he got a military burial.

Dad has Grandpa's flag framed and in his den now.

Grandpa was a gardener/nursery owner by profession; he loved plants and flowers so we all placed a flower on his casket.

Darin talking with Uncle Heber, Grandpa's younger brother.

What a wonderful posterity!

Congrats, cuz!

WHERE: Salt Lake City, Utah
WHEN: May 2005
WITH: Mom and Dad
WHY: My cousin Kevin got married.

MEMORIES:
-I was at college in Provo during this time, but I got to "go away" to SLC for the weekend, so I counted it as a vacation - I was always happy to leave Provo.
-Lanson and Amy came down for the wedding as well; it was fun to see them!
-Fun wedding day with family!

Congrats, Kevin and Maren!

WHERE: Provo, Utah
WHEN: April 2007

MEMORIES:
-Seeing all my teaching program friends.
-Having President Hinckley present at commencement.
-Vice President Dick Cheney spoke at commencement.
-My friend Steven Pearson speaking at commencement.  He was in my ward my sophomore year.
-Even though they said "no yelling" when announcing people as they walked, mom and dad yelled for me :)
On campus.

President Hinckley!

Receiving my (cover for my already received) diploma.

I got it!

My best teaching buddy Laura - couldn't have survived without her!

I have great, supportive parents.

I had a special symbol next to my name saying I had graduated in December.

Another visit.

WHERE: Salt Lake City, Utah
WHEN: September 1996
WITH: Mom
WHY: I don't know, specifically.  Probably to visit Grandpa.

MEMORIES:
-Going through the Mt. Timpanogas Temple open house.
-Mom took me to a whole bunch of Humanitarian Aid places.  I probably didn't find them very interesting.

"You match the tablecloths!"

WHERE: Salt Lake City, Utah
WHEN: June 1993
WITH: Family + Mark Bromley
WHY: My cousin LeAnne's wedding

MEMORIES:
-Family pictures with my dad's side of the family.
-Mark Bromley came to visit us that summer.  Kim stayed with his family when she visited Australia, so then he came to visit us.  I thought he was soooo cute.  Especially with that accent!
-All the cousins had matching pink floral dresses for the wedding.  Diana and I wore white straw hats (I was particularly excited about this).
-Someone during the wedding reception told Kim, "Oh, look - you match the tablecloths!"  It was a lot of pink.
-I think Diana and I had the job of taking presents at the reception.  There was a fountain near where we were; I was playing with my hat, and it fell in the water and became warped.  I was pretty sad.
